Earthy to Vibrant: The Dual Trends Shaping 2025’s Color Landscape

Earthy to Vibrant: The Dual Trends Shaping 2025’s Color Landscape

The 2025 Color of the Year selections mark a departure from previous years, with major paint industry leaders converging on a similar aesthetic. Earth tones dominate the landscape, with Pantone’s Mousse Chocolate leading the charge. It’s joined by warm, rich shades from industry heavyweights like Benjamin Moore, Graham & Brown, Behr, and C2 Paint, including cinnamon, brown, and burgundy hues. However, not all companies are playing it safe.

AkzoNobel, Valspar, and Comex are betting on brighter, more vibrant colors to evoke feelings of optimism and joy. Meanwhile, Sherwin-Williams and Jotun are taking a different approach, unveiling entire color palettes centered on tranquility and relaxation. These themes appear to be the guiding forces behind the 2025 color forecasts.

Benjamin Moore: Cinnamon Slate 2113

For 2025, Benjamin Moore introduces a calming cinnamon hue that combines the warmth of brown with a hint of plum. This gentle color promotes balance and reaffirmation, creating a sense of serenity in any space. To complement this shade, Benjamin Moore offers a curated palette of 10 essential colors that pair perfectly with textured materials and neutral tones, perfect for crafting harmonious interiors.

With a subtle violet undertone, Encore takes on a digital vibe under soft lighting, pairing beautifully with lavender and fresh green accents.

Jotun’s Color Card: Nuances

Jotun’s 2025 Color Card features similar tones under the name Nuances: 30 colors across six families (blues, greys, peaches, yellows, beiges, and greens), each with varied shades and an accent color. Standing out within this variety is a clear curation of calm colors and subtle variations designed to evoke the defining small moments of life. The selection is grounded in how color influences our moods, inviting individuals to choose the shades that best suit the environments they wish to inhabit in 2025.
